JACKSON SPALDING WINS PRSA's BRONZE ANVIL AWARD OF COMMENDATION
Creative tactic in PR campaign gets national attention

NEW YORK/ATLANTA: Jackson Spalding, the Atlanta-based image creation, cultivation and communication firm, was awarded this year’s Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation, sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The award, which recognizes creative tactics in a public relations campaign, was presented to Jackson Spalding during a special event held June 3 in New York City.

Jackson Spalding received the 2004 Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation for its work for Orkin, Inc., “What’s Bugging You? Changing Consumer Perceptions about Pest Control, One Pest at a Time,” in the Media Relations: Consumer Services category – the first Bronze Anvil recognition ever garnered for Orkin.

Out of more than 844 entries from across the United States, Jackson Spalding was one of only two Atlanta-based firms recognized in the national 2004 Bronze Anvil Awards for “outstanding achievement in public relations tactics.” Jackson Spalding worked with Orkin to define and implement a multi-tiered program for its residential services business. The goal of the program was to shift consumer perceptions about pest control from reaction to proactive prevention. The media relations effort generated more than 16.5 million media impressions, with more than 2,200 positive stories and coverage on major television affiliates throughout the United States.

“We applaud Jackson Spalding for its exceptional and creative tactical solutions to a public relations challenge,” said David H. Simon, APR, Fellow PRSA, chairman, Bronze Anvil Awards and public relations consultant. “Jackson Spalding’s entry truly set them apart from a wide field of worthy competitors.”

The Bronze Anvil Awards and the Awards of Commendation were created by PRSA more than 34 years ago to recognize outstanding public relations tactics, the individual teams or components or campaigns. They are awarded in 50 categories and subcategories.
