Denmark is known for its design, Hans Christian Andersen, its monarchy and for having one of the highest standards of living in the world. Dating back to the year 900 Denmark is among the oldest nation states in the world and the rich and old history is seen everywhere in cities and in the countryside.

The population of Denmark is approximately 5,2 million, of which 1,2 million live in the capital area of Copenhagen. Denmark's size is 43,094 km2, encompassing approximately 500 islands and a 7,000 km coastline.

Language
Danish is the official language in Denmark but English is widely spoken and is used by most companies which operate internationally. In Southern Jutland the use of German is prevalent as the foreign language used in business.

Technology
Communications and information technology is widely used in Denmark and Danes are quick to adopt and acknowledge the importance of technology in communications. Smartphones and tablets are widespread and almost 50 percent of the Danes have a profile on Facebook. In 2009 OECD ranked Denmark a shared first in broadband connection penetration, at a rate of 37.1 subscribers per 100 inhabitants.
