Media

prev next
In recent years the number of newspapers in Denmark has declined which have had a negative effect on the range of news/newspapers available. With few exceptions all the major newspapers are all-round and it is no longer possible to point out a noticeable newspaper that has an absolutely clear political profile.

Besides the major newspapers there are a substantial number of local and regional newspapers all of which cover both local and national issues of course with special attention to local stories. All newspapers—local, regional and national media—also publish on-line versions of newspapers. The most influential and circulated dailies are Politiken, Jyllands-Posten, Berlingske Tidende, all all-round newspapers with a broad national appeal.

The most circulated business paper is Børsen. The daily free newspapers Metroxpress, Urban and 24timer are available five days a week at train stations and other traffic junctions in major cities in Denmark. All three are among the most read newspapers and a daily source of information for thousands of commuters.

Television
There are approximately ten Danish television stations out of which the vast majority focus on entertainment. Only two of the national stations have daily news programmes. The two public service stations, DR and TV2, have dozens of daily news reports and news shows, as well as they both operate a 24/7 news channel. Recent years Web-TV has gained a stronger market position. The dominant television stations broadcast online and several of the leading dailies have successfully launched online television.
